Go to Sleep (Little Man Being Erased)

I've always wondered at what age do hipsters become well, "hip"? I mean I know when I began to cultivate the inklings of the "image" I try to pull off from time to time. It had to be sometime during my junior year of high school. And from there it was nothing but up, up, up with the hipness, especially once I got a job. Everything before that is all a blur. All trying to keep up with my overly teenage and materialistic Black counterparts, wearing clothes a size too big, trying too hard to match, and relying on the rents too heavily for my wardrobe. Thank God I found another group to mimic. I mean to adapt to and seek inspiration from. Phew! [wipes sweat from forehead]

But now it seems the hipsters are getting younger and younger and starting at a younger age. Everyone wants to look like no one [homeless, poor, dishelved]at an earlier and earlier age. And now we may have the unfortunate luck of having kids shun bands because they were into them way before anyone else in their age group was or because they were there before the fame...at the first show...with an EP they bought online...from the band's website.

Yeah it's bound to happen. And this new album Rockabye Baby! Lullaby Renditions of Radiohead out August 29th is hoping to ensure that it does. According to the folks over at pitchforkmedia.com:

"Rockabye Baby! transforms timeless rock songs into beautiful instrumental lullabies. The delicate sounds of the glockenspiel, vibraphone, and other instruments will lull your little one into a sweet slumber. These versions of Radiohead are sophisticated enough for people of all ages, but sweet enough to introduce your child to rock's smartest band. Their album Kid A imagines the scope and power of music created by a newborn child. What will your baby dream about while drifting off to these serene interpretations of Radiohead's best-loved songs?"

Yeah. And supposedly we can expect lullaby versions of songs from Bjork, Metallica, Led Zeppelin, Coldplay, Queens of the Stone Age, the Cure, the Beatles, and Tool also. Soon owning an album from the Rockabye Baby series will become the new owning a sick lunchbox. Coming to a 3-8 year old's Ipod near you!
