Here's why I like Gwen Stefani. When I hear a Gwen Stefani track [and even with some of her No Doubt stuff] what I hear is a music fan trying her bestest to recreate and expand on the music she bumped from her stereo as a child.[and doing an okay or sometimes stellar job] Lisa Lisa. JJ Fad. Cameo. Prince. The Mary Jane Girls. etc. etc. And I don't know, I mean put Pharrell behind her and I just have to listen and enjoy it way more than I should.
