John, I'm only dancing!

About two years ago,my roommate and I made a trip to the local cineplex to relish in the pure delight that was the Spongebob Squarepants movie. Despite the fact that he was a sophomore in college, T-Rev was a huge Spongebob fan, and a few weeks prior to its release our school's radio station recieved the
  • movie's sdtrk
  • that featured -suprisingly- some pretty stellar tunes from the likes of The Flaming Lips, The Shins, and Wilco. That alone was enough to warrant a trip to the local cineplex in support of Spongebob and co.

What transpired was a highly entertaining flick for the kids that was smart enough to realize that many parents would be sitting through it also. [I now own the movie on DVD in case you were wondering.] In other words, T-Rev and I were surrounded by kids between the ages of 5-10. It was like movie day at day care, and sometimes we would all laugh together, and sometimes T-Rev and I [along with a few parents], would laugh at a joke or two that went over the heads of the youngins.

But we didn't care. Spongebob may be marketed at children, but who says we grown folk can't enjoy it? Just ask David Bowie, who will be lending his voice to the character of the Lord Royal Highness in an episode of the series for the upcoming season. Apparently his daughter is a huge fan of the show and for Bowie he has "hit the Holy Grail of animal gigs."

That's awesome. Here's hoping he doesn't send the little ones on mind trips like that one movie he took part in back in
