dude... incredible. : the albums, 2014.

11/ex hex/rips

take a minute if you will to recall the last great rock concert you attended. jot down and luxuriate in all the reasons why this show was one for the history books, and one you'll never forget. set list? I'm assuming it was perfect or damn near (all killer, no filler). entrance with a bang, attention held throughout. little time to breathe, but plenty time to keep on rocking in the free world. ex hex's rips is not a live album or set, but it plays like one everytime you return to it. and it's this energy, in combination with the crisp punk ethos, clear vision, and technical precision of Mary Timony's all female power pop trio that takes hold of your senses, activating them all at once. the set list? perfect or damn near (all killer, no filler). entrance with a bang, and attention held throughout. little time to breathe, but plenty time to (SWEAT and) keep on rocking in the free world. methodical face melting shredding was in high supply this year, but few acts (and sets) were as tight and on point as ex hex's rips.
