What not to wear: Indie Rock Edition

Here's a pic of indie darling Sufjan Stevens on opening night of his tour in Nashville, Tennessee:

Okay, so the whole banjo and the paper wings on his back do bring to mind a more simpler time of younger days in the country playing cowboys and indians while drinking lemonade out of a jam jar, [which in turn can fit the down home Americana theme he likes to put on wax] but that's just half of the outfit. As described by Dane Smith over at
  • Rolling Stone:

  • "Donning large multicolored wings, matching suit jackets and baby blue slacks, Brooklyn based singer-songwriter Sufjan Stevens and his thirteen-piece band kicked off a two-month North American theater tour last night at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium..."

Oh Sufjan. I can't even begin to wonder what my personal Sufjan Stevens-Devendra Banhart- rocks in concert when he struts out for promo shots looking like this:

Although I kind of like this picture... Biased?
