TEN.
Like James Murphy and the gang's previous effort, this CD hits hard and goes squarely for the hips when you press play on track one. And then midway through, like a reminder to turn the tape over and begin Side B, we are hit with this, a seven-and-a-half minute slow moving, crescendo building reflection on the good times, and the people who help make them what they are. Murphy sings in a clear, plain tone, as the light drizzle that is the instrumentation [oh those stammering keys!]roars on behind him. "We set controls for the heart of the sun", "spend five years trying to get with the plan, and then spend "the next five trying to be with our friends again." Why? Because it's absolutely necessary, like fruit and vegetables in one's diet, or a good night's sleep.
