Today is March 1, 2007 and I still can't get enough of Gwen Stefani's sophomore disc The Sweet Escape. Because of swift product placement, I can't get enough of the new Akon produced single [also titled the Sweet Escape], but as of late, I have also fallen in love with one of the disc's few ballads, 4 in the Morning. Teaming up with No Doubt bandmate Tony Kanal, Stefani sets aside her bag of tricks, removing all idiosyncratic leanings, letting herself become a slave to the keys and the melody. i give you everything that i am/im handin over everything that i got/cause i wanna have a really true love/don't ever wanna have to go and give you up/stay up til four in the morning and the tears are pouring/and i want to make it worth the fight/what have we been doing for all this time?/baby if we're gonna do it, come on do it right...The sentiment, like the song, is simple, and Tony and Gwen know, just like the rest of us, that it's better that way. Check it out:
