I can make it good, I can make it hood, I can make you come, I can make you go! I can make it high, I can make it fly, make you touch the sky, hey maybe so!

The Neon Bible
Now that I've spent a little more time with this gem of an album, this following e-mail exchange with a close friend, taken from Wednesday, is all the more fitting:
CLOSE FRIEND: guys,i'm trying really really hard to get into this new album, and i like it. am i just not getting it, though? everyone seems to think this band is world-changing, and i never got into funeral...and this album is decent, but not mindblowing. keep the car running made me really excited, but the rest of the album just didn't live up to that song. help? or am i forever lost?
ME: Being the consumer whore that I am, I purchased like four cd's, one movie, and two dvd sets yesterday. Unlike the rest of the world I did not, repeat not, download Neon Bible illegally or scan it before purchasing it yesterday. Critics and blogs were saying good things so I just went on that, plus the debut album was pretty stellar and had great moments so I said fuck it. When I finally got around to playing it [too busy raving unto the joy fantastic that is !!!'s new disc] I found myself smiling and enjoying myself track to track. Now I haven't gotten through the whole album, and when I played it, I was doing the whole music as background noise thing, but I will say this, track one did make me sit up straight and go 'wow, okay!', as a good disc should, and Black Wave/Bad Vibrations is pretty kick ass, especially with the female vocals and all. So to make a long story short, I am enjoying the album and it probably will be one of the best of the year.
The end.
The more you know. Da dun dun dun....
