Love & Happiness.

The Albums: 2009.

21/Franz Ferdinand/Tonight: Franz Ferdinand

That album cover for Franz Ferdinand’s third LP Tonight: Franz Ferdinand is a winner. Lead singer and frontman Alex Kapranos stands in the forefront of the cover art’s frame, attempting to shield you away from the emergency rescue mission occurring in the background amongst his bandmates, one of whom, must have really ‘tore the club up” tonight. It’s a swagger Franz Ferdinand rocks and knows all too well, and that raucous, flirtatious playtime with the wild side is present in every hook, melody, and strum of the bass guitar on this LP right here. The ball gets rollin’ immediately as soon as you hit play on track one, and Alex whispers in your ear, “come on, let’s get high”, from there on out, it’s sex, drugs, and rock and roll, as the Scottish foursome keep the rhythms steady, the bass lines heavy, and the guitars slick and jaunty. The songs are crisp and the grooves are thick like molasses, as Alex K. struts big and tall, like a young Mick Jagger in his prime. “Come on let’s get high”/“Kiss me, flick you cigarette and kiss me!”/”I don’t care his skin is still between the still-warm fold of your sheets, send him away!”/”Bite hard!”/”Why don’t you ever call me...” Do yourself a favor and take heed to his call, and his come hither stares, cause Tonight, Franz Ferdinand came to party, and you’d be a fool not to watch and take part as they “tear the club up.”
