24/Karen O and The Kids/Where the Wild Things Are Motion Picture Soundtrack
Once upon time in a land far, far, away, there lived a girl. And this girl wasn’t like most girls. This girl? She was special. Karen O. was her name. And she had an imagination as big as sun, and as wide as the sea. And when she closed her eyes, she could escape and be at peace, mind free to roam, at one with her thoughts, her creativity, and her imagination. She could wander alone into the cold dark night, enveloping herself in the lite melancholic “Hideaway” as she took a step back from the complexities of reality for a minute; Run to the hills or across the sand, and cascade to the flourishing keys of the child like “Rumpus” with her friends; Join hands with the characters in her mind, along for the ride, whistling, humming, strumming guitars, clapping hands, and giving a “Heads Up” on how sweet it us to be friends with you. Whether lost in the revelry alone or with a little help from friends (Bradford Cox of Deerhunter, Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Oscar Michel of Gris Gris, to name a few), the oh so special Karen O. ventured out into the wild depths of that imagination of hers, big as the sun, wide as the sea, painting vivid pictures and lush soundscapes along the way. Into the wild, mind free to roam, at peace. For her, for US, it’s a good place to be.
