"I think this may be kind of obvious, but the thing that comes to my head was seeing Spank Rock play in Brazil. We were playing a festival there that involved a few other bands like the Killers, the Arctic Monkeys, Björk, and Spank Rock and ourselves. Spank Rock was on just before us. So, obviously Spank Rock had this kind of South American and African rhythms. They have a lot of rhythmic influences from those kinds of places. They had, like, four drummers playing a variety of hand drums, and they did an absolutely fantastic job creating this Carnivale atmosphere. It was just a really complete package. They had Amanda Blank there, Pase Rock and Spank Rock, and the two DJs. They were doing these choreographed dances and trading verses, and getting the drummers involved. It kind of had the feeling to me of playfulness and that sense of fun that you get when you watch Wild Style or something like that. Where you see old hip hop groups that would dance, sing, laugh, and seem to have a real party. There was a sense of it being like a party with a few people literally being MCs of the whole event, rather than a rap show where they come on, rap, and get off it. It had a fantastic atmosphere about it. I've seen Spank Rock in the past, but it seemed like they really got this show together for this, which was really mind-blowing..."
