The Wilhelm Scream is a powerful opening statement from a conflicted young man being torn up inside. James is getting older and nothing is for certain, and nothing seems clear. “I don't know about my dreams I don't know about my dreamin' anymore All that I know is I'm fallin', fallin', fallin', fallin' Might as well fall in.” And he does, in song. Minute by minute, beat by beat, the booming yet spare production heightens the repetitious turmoil present in the lyrics. And Blake? Ever present, never too forceful, and clear. A beautifully human silent shout.
