FILE UNDER: Singled Out.
Feel the hearbeat, feel the heartbeat...
Okay. Now that the smoke has cleared and the storm has come and gone [and a brotha ain’t gotta worry about his blog going "up in smoke"], I can echo a sentiment shared by many a Madonna fan as of late: this song fucking knocks.
That’s right, I said it.
Madonna has been on a roll with the debut singles post Ray of Light -Music, Hung Up, and now this- with the only slip up being American Life, which, while not being bad, just lacks the giddy urgency of the aforementioned three lead off singles for Music, Confessions on a Dancefloor, and Hard Candy. This song, just like the others, is a fucking announcement. Those opening horns post Timbaland’s intro, that dizzying cacophony of sound on the hook, and the love me or hate me, war of roses back and forth sharing of the vocals between Justin and M-Dolla ; Yes, This.Is.Superhero Music. [Well at least on the hook it is] It’s a grand statement , and who else but Madonna would try to save the world in four minutes with a pop song as if it's her God given destiny?
[I still can't believe this chick is going to be on 106 & Park this week. Check your local listings.]

Hey Mr. Mp3J ! Throwing a party? Next time you do, put this song on immediately following 4 Minutes. It’s quite the juxtaposition, and it'll give your fellow party goers some solace and cool down relax time to just tilt their heads back, and dig in the scene with the gangsta lean as they catch their breath. Or get freaky. Lord knows this song won’t condone it.
