Look, I love I Wanna Fuck You just as much as the next man. And Smack That gets a head bob and an ass shake from me everytime. And when I found out that he doesn't just shout WOO-HOO on Gwen Stefani's new single, but that he also produced it, I was completely surprised. But aside from that brief foray into new wave, girl group pop, Akon comes off as a smooth talking, tail chasing, cassanova P.I.M.P. This Akon of today contrasts heavily with the Akon I remember meeting my junior year of college, telling his ghetto story, or yearning for his baby to come on home as Alvin and the Chipmunks sang back-up. Maybe he thought said yearning made him come off like a little bitch, which is ridiculous cause it didn't. If anything it made him seem more vulnerable and real, and makes the playa that sees you "winding and grinding up on that pole" all the more tiresome and generic, no matter how infectious the track may be.
