NICE AS F*CK! : The Albums, 2016.

25/badbadnotgood/iv

On Badbadnotgood's IV, time moves slow. And though we hear these words sung earnestly and reflected upon by Samuel Herring early in the album's run, you are made fully aware of this from the jump before it is explicitly said. And as the minutes go on and the lightly spasmatic contemporary (and largely instrumental) jazz numbers here envelop and consume you, you realize that on IV "time moves slow" are not just words thrown together off the cuff to get a point across quickly. On IV "time moves slow" are words to live by, and live by them they do (I mean, just look at that album cover). But don't get it twisted, the fellas in the band that make up badbadnotgood are not sloths. The time moves slow and accommodates them and these expertly crafted compositions. The time moves slow like the sounds and melodies presented here, exhaling loudly and taking up space comfortably without a care in the world. Days go by and the world keeps on spinning, but on IV, time moves slow. And the music and LP is better because of this.
