A few years back I stumbled upon Hot Chip's debut album Coming on Strong. Many people had problems with its b-boy swagger jacking, and cues taken from mid to late 90's R&B. But not I. In fact one track that got my attention from the outset was the dark play on playa stylings of Playboy. Skip a head a few years and Hot Chip are back, ready for the floor, and coming on strong with Made in the Dark, a new album and song of the same name that takes it cues from past songs like Playboy and Look After Me, except this time the bass is turned down low [and damn near eliminated], and the boys in the band give us a straight up ballad. I don't see nothing wrong. And nor should you.
I can make it good, I can make it hood, I can make you come, I can make you go! I can make it high, I can make it fly, make you touch the sky, hey maybe so!
