"BANDZ A MAKE HER DANCE!": The Singles, 2012

AND

06/Dirty Projectors/About to Die & Gun Has No Trigger

Give David Longstreth some crayons and a canvas, and he'll paint with all the colors of the rainbow. Inside the lines, outside the lines. Colors that work and those that don't. Or wouldn't, but in his hands somehow do. No surprises here, these are Dirty Projectors trademarks. Swing Lo Magellan is full of gems, and these two come early on, back to back, operating like the Talking Heads on acid; Both cinematic in scope. About to Die, presented in technicolor, all handclaps and joyful sing alongs to the heavens. Gun Has No Trigger its more direct, brooding counterpart, intent on leaving a lasting impression. Sonically, the two songs are worlds apart, but both revel in all things Dirty Projectors, painting pictures however they see fit.
