"BANDZ A MAKE HER DANCE!": The Albums, 2012

24/Cat Power/Sun

They say change starts with you. They say move on, put it behind you, take a walk. They say set it to paper, put it in a love song, go. Let it. Out. And she has. And she did. And here we are. A break up album from Ms. Chan Marshall, known more commonly to you and yours as Cat Power. But not a break up album in the traditional sense you're thinking of. Sun is a break from a way of living that's no longer worth living, and a step towards becoming whole. A break from the ruins; the bitching, complaining, and ever controlling cowardice that keeps one from truly achieving and receiving that one true destiny: Clarity and peace of mind. With her rollicking and therapeutic ninth album Chan retreated to studio, wrote, arranged, produced, and let. It. Out. They say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, and Sun, with every platitude, moment of clarity, and note sang and played within, proves it.
KEY TRACKS: Cherokee/Ruin/Human Being
