SOUND & COLOR: THE ALBUMS, 2015.

25/van hunt/the fun rises, the fun sets

at some point before dawn he rises to pull back the curtains and let the light shine in, taking in the view. he turns, silent for a second before letting out a “we were having fun…”

the fun sets.

this is what the wistful title and final track bring to mind as it settles into its groove and eases you into your sunrise or sunset. for elastic soul man van hunt it’s the come down from all that has come before it. the end result of a wonderfully seductive game plan comprised of toe taps and hand claps tinted and colored like M. Gaye via the vessel of Rick James. it’s lo-fi and confident, doing that classic soul music move of showing out without showing off. what you see is what you get and what you get is pure uninhibited soul.

“We were having fun?”

please believe.

KEY TRACKS: Old Hat/Teach Me a New Language/…Puddin’
