SOUND & COLOR: THE ALBUMS, 2015.

06/speedy ortiz/foil deer

foil deer begins by coming at ya neck. on the brief, less than two minute long opener, lead singer and front woman sadie dupuis asks that you be careful and watch your back. why? "because baby is so good with a blade..." next up, and with things in full swing, we are told that no, she ain't bossy, she's the boss(!). cause yes, there is a difference, fam, and on foil deer, sadie and company spend thirty five plus minutes walking the walk, showcasing why she and these words and noise rock compositions are boss. foil deer is a confident record from a headstrong band that refuses to sit still. a fuzzy, ramshackle alt rock set steeped in punk & DIY ethos that connects itself to the early to mid 90s heyday of those movements in spirit and execution. it's loud and soft in equal measures, looking you directly in the eye and holding the stare, no matter the mood. all is done to ensure that you get the point, and never forget who and what is boss here with each passing minute. and you don't. mission accomplished.

KEY TRACKS: raising the skate/puffer/my dead girl
