Welcome to Pee Wee's Playhouse. Where Tyler Okonma becomes Tyler the Cre-A-Ture, GOBLIN. A "19 year old fucking emotional coaster with pipe dreams" holding court with himself. GOBLIN operates like a prized sketchbook left open for all to see. The scribblings and obsessions of a sharp, focused young man getting older in a world that ain't getting much easier. A highly cerebral affair in which Tyler gives himself the space needed to vent, talk shit, and just create. Left to his own devices, Tyler conjures up a brash and vivid long player from a headspace that knows no limits. That he wraps it all in a haunting, almost eerie Neptunes like soundscape is just icing on the cake. Another clever and well done sketch on the page and look inside the mind of this creature they call Tyler the Creator.

Aaron Jerome thrives on anonymity. Hidden from sight via
the various ceremonial masks he adorns himself in, and detached from himself
while operating under the stage name of the artist presented here, SBTRKT. With
his debut, Jerome let’s an overwhelming persona take a backseat to the universal
ruminations on affection presented here that need no overshadowing. Consuming inner neuroses
that come attached to the trials of the heart are dwelled upon, spoken upon on,
and given room to breathe over post-dubstep production that smolders from a largely
skeletal framework; With stirring guest vocal turns from the likes of Sampha
and Yukimi Nagano of Little Dragon applying that extra piece of emotional
gravitas these songs call for. And receives. Which is why Jerome steps back and
simply lets the music of SBTRKT speak for itself.
