Big Ups Annie and Samantha Woods!

FILE UNDER: POLITICS: So Fucking Disco!

Bout it! Bout it!

Every now and then I rock this abstract symbol of change dog tag around my neck in support of Barack Obama's campaign. Said necklace was given to me upon my return from St. Louis over Labor Day Weekend, a return that coincided with the end of the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colorado. A convention attended by the two ladies you see presented above, who I am lucky enough to know, and have received a few post convention goodies from upon my return. [Including that "abstract symbol of change" dog tag necklace.]

You see, more times than not, I am reminded of how small this world can be. I have two roommates from Santa Cruz. One of the two informed us all of how we would have two houseguests for the weekend, needing a place to hang and crash on during their stop in Los Angeles on this, their 'Roadtrip to the DNC!' Little did I know, that these two girls would be two of the most enthusiastic, kind-hearted, and generous grass roots campaigners I would come to meet and read about throughout this long, arduous road to the White House. Getting attention as two attractive young women in a perfectly and fully stickered Obama Volvo [that took damn near four hrs to cover, precisely] is not hard, but it's easy to discount, and that's the last thing one should do when evaluating the time, energy, and effort these two put into this election season. From getting the word out by talking face to face and person to person to offering up some fine stenciled t-shirts with only the finest of fine bottles of Spray Paint as a means of fundraising, these two walked the walk and talked the talk. And as the smoke clears and this election season draws to a close, it sure feels good to sit back, relax, and reflect on the good times and causes for celebration, right?
